You’re Only as Young as You Want.

Beauty Tips to Slow Down Ageing

WATER

Try to drink between 1 and a half to 2 litres per day.  Drinking water will help your digestive system flush out toxins resulting in a healthy and glowing complexion.  Try to drink water from glass and not plastic and add lemon or lime to spruce up your water.

And whilst we are talking about lemons …

LEMONS

Lemons have a natural antioxidant the helps with anti ageing.  Antioxidants combat free radicals that can cause ageing signs.  Lemons also have vitamin C, which stimulates collagen production and in turn reduces signs of ageing.

EXERCISE

Here’s a bit of science … exercise slows cell ageing.  It has to do with telomeres, the caps at the end of chromosomes that control ageing. Telomeres become shorter as you get older, and longer telomeres are associated with longevity.  So get those trainers on.

SMOKING

So this one should be self explanatory but here’s an interesting fact …

An average smoker would need to eat 10 oranges at least to replace the Vitamin destroyed with each cigarette.

Many of the more than 4,000 chemicals in tobacco smoke also damage collagen and elastin resulting in ageing.

Pursing your lips when inhaling will also cause wrinkles around your mouth.

ALCOHOL

Drinking alcohol will dehydrate you and dry out your skin.  It has been said that red wine is great for your skin for the antioxidant benefits …. did you know that a square of good dark chocolate contains much, much more antioxidant benefits.

WHOLE FOODS

To prevent age-related damage, eat more whole food and avoid processed foods which can contain a lot of sugars, fats and salt.

Eat more whole grains, such as whole wheat and brown rice; lean meats and fish, poultry, and eggs; beans, peas, and legumes; and five or more servings of fruits and vegetables a day which will boost your bodies supply of nutrients to keep cells healthy resulting in younger looking skin.

PLANT BASED DIET

There is a lot of hype around a plant based diet and it really is a good option to look into as it supports healthy ageing by providing important nutrients.

PROTECT YOUR SKIN

Always, always wear a SPF.  Sunlight creates molecules called free radicals which damage the skin by attacking the collagen which keeps skin supple and youthful. And damaged collagen leads to wrinkles.

Sleep

We need sleep to repair.  Whilst we sleep, our body rebuilds its collagen and repairs damage from UV exposure, reducing wrinkles and age spots.

GREEN TEA

This contains powerful antioxidants to combat the signs of ageing.

CUCUMBER

Cucumbers are loaded with vitamin C, a natural antioxidant, they are also a rich source of vitamin A, another powerful antioxidant.  Vitamin A produces collagen, diminishes wrinkles and lines, fights acne, and improves your overall skin health

LEMON

Lemons contain vitamin C which helps the body produce collagen.

All in all there is a lot we can do to slow down ageing but to reverse the signs of ageing, we have many treatments like our Renew and Reverse facial.

2018

A day in the life of Forever Argi+

It all started as a pretty normal day …

Every day begins with my daily meditation …

As per most days, the humans that I live with find many uses for me, today was going to be a pool day.  Human 1’s neck didn’tfeel too comfortable for her, so naturally I offered my services as a pillow …

Human 2 had the unfortunates of the sun getting in her eyes, naturally I offered to help …

Human 2 quickly decided she needed refreshing …

Meanwhile, Human 3 was having trouble in the pool, as I have completed my life-guard certificate, I came to the rescue …

Human 1 had bought Human 2 some flowers as Human 2 had been working really hard lately … for some reason, we had a shortage of vases?

Human 3 gets bored easily and is often finding new activities to do …

Before heading down to the beach (did you know I can make sand-castles)??

After the beach, its always nice to have a refreshing shower …

So …. After a lovely day for the Humans but a hardworking day for me, when the Humans finally went out to party …. I decided it was time for a well earned chill out …. So firstly I popped the candles on …

And thought I would settle down to a film with my good friend Prings …

However, this seemed quite tame for a Saturday night, so we decided to jump into the car and go and get something a little more exciting …

To make cocktails …

And chill on our pet Unicorn …

Ok … so after a few cocktails, and enough “chilling” we thought it was a good idea to have a little go on the trampoline …

Yep that’s me …. The only picture of me actually being able to stand on the trampoline …

(This is how I spent most of the time)

So …. Needless to say, by this time we were certainly feeling the effects of the supplies that we bought earlier … and I actually can’t remember sliding down the banister ….

Thankfully on waking up Sunday morning … I have my supplies of aloe, lean and my brother “Sachet” …. With of course a good film (errr wait …. Wasnt it the films fault in the first place?????)

10 tips to hosting your own pamper party ....  October 2016

1 – Create a Zen-like atmosphere …

Play some soft music in the background, just type into google “music for spa’s” and you will pull up a whole list of relaxing music.

2 – “Chick-Flicks” …

Put “Chick-Flicks” on the TV so that you can curlup on the sofa, in your bath-robes, and watch your favourite movies.

3 – Get fruity …

Serve fresh fruit, presented in crisp clear or white serving platters.  Serve lemon & lime iced water to keep hydrated … Ok, so if it’s the evening perhaps a glass of prosecco … but with raspberries in to keep you up on your 5 a day!

4 – A great pedicure can be as soothing to the sole as … well, to the sole

Have your guests bring their own bowl and hand-towel.  Provide guests with cotton wool, tissues, scrubs, moisturisers, nail files and polishes.  You can even have a go at making your own scrubs with grapeseed oil, brown sugar, oatmeal and a couple of drops of essential oils … again google some recipes.

5 – The best foundation you can wear is healthy, glowing skin …

Have ready cotton wool, tissues, flannels, mirrors, cleanser, toner, scrubs, masks, moisturiser and bowls for guests to do their facials.  Again, you can make your own scrubs and masks.  A great mask is 1/2 cup of hot water and 1/3 cup oatmeal, mix in 2 tbsp plain yoghurt, 2 tbsp honey and 1 egg white, and apply to face.  Leave on for 10-15 minutes and rinse (please be careful about rinsing it down the sink if you do not wish to call a plumber to the pamper party).  There are lots of recipes available on the internet.

6 – You’re never fully dressed without a manicure …

Much like the pedicure, get a table set up with polishes, tissues, cotton wool, nail files, and just let everyone have a play.  For a real treat … do each other’s nails?

7 – Bad hair day …

Why not even all put a hair mask on.  Feeling fruity??

This is a great recipe … 2 overripe bananas, 1 tsp coconut oil, 1 tsp olive oil and 1 tbsp of honey, just make sure there is somewhere for everyone to wash it off, otherwise you may attract a few unwanted visitors in the way of fruit-flies!

8 – Colour me beautiful …

A big hit at the moment is adult colouring books, why not get a range of books or even print patterns off the internet.  Have a few packs of felt-tips and away you go … this is a big rage at the moment to relieve stress (excuse the pun).

9 – Give the gift of love …

Have little goodie bags ready for your friends to go home with (yes adults like goodie bags at parties as well as children).  These could contain little heart shaped lollies, little jars so that they can take some of their own scrub away, little bottles of prosecco or wine … the list is endless, have fun with this.

10 – Now this really is the best tip …

If you really don’t want the hassle of preparing and hosting all this yourself … find a therapist that will come and do it for you, and believe me … we LOVE pamper parties!
